5 D6s-Odds/Scoring Project

Tableau, Python

Overview:

Based on a love of board games and statistics, inspired to develop Tableau Public Dashboard to better visualize odds and tools for enabling strategy-impacting analysis. This current first iteration version utilizes data from a Python script utilizing pandas to populate data for rolling/scoring five 6-sided dice across Yahtzee/Yams/Yatzy/Yacht for one roll.

Features/Analysis Enablement:

Hyperlinks over specific games to learn game rules/scoring details. Filters near top to select specific Game and Scoring Move in addition to X-Axis for Average Scoring by Permutation Frequency graph. Bottom of Dashboard show tabular summary of Games, Scoring Moves, and the minimum to maximum ranges of these scores.

Usage Example 1

Want to analyze all the "Straight" Scoring Moves across the Games for one roll. Using the top Filter to select all Straights. Quick analysis shows that in the game Yatzy straights are in general more difficult to roll (on the first roll) and are scored less than vs other games.
